*Due 12/16/09 With Baby #2* asked:

I’m 10 weeks pregnant (with my second child) and I’m in need of some extra income. I was thinking of running an ad for child care in my home. I was planning on watching only up to age 5. I’m planning on providing meals and snacks and teaching them colors, numbers, shapes, letters depending on what they already know… How much should I charge? And I will watch them any hours so if they need me to watch them over night should I charge extra? Thanks for your help!

I have no professional experience with babies, so any little bit helps. Like how do I know why a baby is crying? How do I change a diaper? etc. THanks!

I own a home child care. I love my job and the kids. I had to call DHS last week because a child told me that her moms boyfriend had thrown her into a wall. Well to come find out the child had made it up because she was mad her mom and dad no longer lived togeather. The mom called me VERY angry and told me she was going to sue me because i made a false report. I told her that i have an obligation to make the call ( the state requires that we all take a mandatory child abuse reporting class and that we do call DHS if we hear or suspect ANY kind of child abuse) The mom says she does not care and also said to me “i am going to make sure your other daycare parents know all about you” I know i did the right thing, but i am still so sick to my stomach. I do not know what to do!
well the question is what can i do about the mom. she should not be allowed to go around and tell people false things about me. should i talk to a lawyer since she has already told people around town that i am a “bad” child care provider,

I am already with trust line of California, registered with the state for one child. So I have that with my friends daughter, and I have a couple other friends who want me to watch their daughters with the whole after school thing and not having the rule of must pick child up before/by 6pm. I have my own daughter who is 9y/o.

I live in Illinois, where can I find the funding to finance my venture? I have two semesters until I finish my bachlors in sociology but I am thinking of sitting out and starting my business. I have three children, single parent and good child care is always an issue for me to work traditional hours. I am always told I am good with children and my ultimate college and career goals is to work with women and children. Where can I find help to start a business and is this a good idea?

My ex is court ordered to pay 50% of child care expenses. My daughter recently started preschool as a result of my employment and my ex is refusing to pay his share, claiming that he can’t afford it. He is active duty in the Air Force. I can’t afford to pay it all and need to collect his share ASAP.
I live in California. The child support office won’t collect anything other than child and spousal support, so they’re no help to me when it comes to medical or child care expenses.

Some animals, right after they were born are able to look for food on their own, and take care of themselves (e.g. baby snakes) without their mother’s supervision.

Human babies, on the other hand, require complete care from their mother. They cannot take care of themselves.

My friend needs a place to nurse her child and would prefer to do so in private. Has anyone been there that knows/remembers?

I have a 10 year old son, and he is pretty responsible for his age. I get home from work 45 minutes after he gets out of school, so he currently attends after school care.

He has recently started to ask me when can he be at home by himself. He could ride the school bus home, and I would be home within an hour.

What do I do? Are there State Law guidelines regarding how young a child can be, or anything like that?

Thanks!

I just recently found a baby bird hatchling in my front yard. It seems to be very young (no feathers and its eyes are closed shut) and I’m not quite sure how to take care of it. I tried to find its mother, but there seems to be no nest nearby. Does anyone know the best way to take care of it? Thanks in advance.
